About this Site
With well over 100 million blogs in the world (at least, according to Technorati who track blogs), I have no illusions that this little web site will, for the time being, suffer in the black abyssal void of obscurity from whence few blogs have ever returned. But all things are possible in the fullness of time.
That said, let me introduce myself to anyone who happens to stumble in here. I am an aspiring author of fantasy fiction and science-fantasy. My current project is the World of Mythania, which you can find at Mythania.com. Mythania is a “steam-age fantasy world” filled with wonders magical and technological, but devastated by war. I currently have a few short stories on the site, and I am working on a 5 book series.
Of course, being an unpublished writer doesn’t do a lot to pay the bills (and even being a published writer doesn’t help much either). That’s where my other passion comes into play–that is, being a geek. A professional geek, in fact, working to develop my career as a programmer and web application developer.
As a result, this web site and blog will cover subjects ranging from fantasy and science fiction, to writing, software development, open source advocacy, science, astronomy, and who knows what else. To read more about what I’m up to right now, visit my current projects page.
My Official Bio
Finding himself stranded on the small backwater planet Earth, Mark Chase spends most of his free time writing short stories and novels, keeping up with the latest news in science and technology, and doing all the normal things human beings are in the habit of doing. Since 1998 he has been developing the steam fantasy world of Mythania as well as working on a series of novels and short stories set during that world’s most momentous period of change — the Age of Progress and the War of Wars. For his day job, Mark Chase (in the guise of his mild-mannered alter ego) works in the field of programming and software development.
Mr. Chase lives in Indianapolis, IN, with his wife and three crazy cats who think they are the center of the universe (and who are correct, of course, given the intrinsic expansion of space-time from its singular point of origin 13.73 billion years ago).
