Ryo's only clue to his parintal mystery is a single holodisk from his father which was given to him twelve years ago by a strange man who he never saw again. With no other prospects in life, Ryo joined the ITR navy.

Ryo had a natural nack at piloting mecha, and he quickly became an ace pilot. His holodisk quickly became the center piece of the galactic war, as the rising tyrant Allen Briggs was obsessed with capturing it. It was later discovered that the holodisk contained encrypted data on a top secret Imperial research project; a project which had been shut down and all but destroyed. Supposedly, the holodisk contained the last ruminants of that project. The holodisk was damaged in a battle, and though some of the data was recovered, much of it was lost. Under Ryo's encurragment, the ITR launched an expidention to the Arcturus system; the system where the project had taken place twelve years before.

Neither Ryo nor the ITR know much about the project. All ITR records were destroyed and only a microscopic handfull of people remain who know that the project even existed. Unfortunaly, there is evidence that General Briggs had played a key roll in the origonal project. Now that he is in power, he has launched an expedition of his own to Arcturus.
