Well, that is a bit sensational of a title. Nevertheless, the New York Times has this intriguing article about the current state of AI, and the fact that a few computer scientist are getting a little jittery about it. It seems that over the past 5 to 8 years, the state of AI has greatly improved, and will continue to improve over the next few decades–perhaps to the point that AIs eventually out-smart us, their creators. While I do not subscribe to the worst-case-scenario group, I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in this subject to read Ray Kurzweil’s The Singularity Is Near.
Now, watch this video and imagine one chasing you down as you attempt to claw your way out of the burned-out rubble of what had been city. Enjoy!
Personally, I welcome our evil robot overlord!
